Gainesville Daily Register March 28, 2010 San Antonio - Memorial graveside services for Hubert Wayne "Tooter" Smart, 67, were held Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, with L.V. Phelps officiating. Services were under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Tooter died Thursday, March 24, 2010 at his home in San Antonio. Tooter was born on August 6, 1942 in Whitesboro to Donald and Iona Crenshaw Smart. He grew up in Whitesboro and attended Whitesboro High school. Tooter joined the US Navy and retired after 28 years of service. He married Michiko Utter in 2003 in California. Survivors include his wife; three children, Don Smart; Michelle Larios and Martha Megis and husband, Tim; seven grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Smart of Whitesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
