Mrs. Sue Marichal Received Headstone For Son's Grave
In accordance with the policy adopted by the United States government to supply markers for the graves of World War and regular Army veterans, Mrs. Sue Marichal has recently received a marble headstone to be erected at the grave of her son, Charles H. (Herman) Marichal, who died in August 1920 in a government hospital in North Carolina.  Mr. Marichal served with the 34th division of the A.E.F. and was stationed in France for several months.
The inscription on the headstone consists of the full name, the state from which the veteran came, regiment and divistion, the date of death and the emblem, a Latin Cross, signifying the Protestant faith; or a Star of David, which indicates the Hebrew faith.
Upon the request of Mrs. Marichal, the date of birth has also been inscribed on the stone, which is the second of its kind to be received here.
