   Amanda Butler 1879 - 1954  The Whitewright Sun Thurday, January 14, 1954 Pg. 5 DEATHS Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church, Colored, for Mrs. Amanda Butler, 84, well known Negro resident of Whitewright. Burial was in White Rock Cemetery. Born at Kentuckytown, September 30, 1869 [sic}, she was the daughter of King and Millie Lane. She was married to George Butler in 1900 and lived in and near Whitewright all her life. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Millie Ann Hunt of Whitewright and Mrs. Marguerite Pruitt of Denison; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
