William Bowen, 68, of Sherman ascended to his eternal home Sunday, January 17, 2021 at his residence.
Sherman - William Nathaniel Bowen was born in Sherman, Texas, September 14, 1952, the third child of Ora Mae Luper Bowen and Elder Cecil Bowen. He attended Carver Elementary School, Jefferson School and Fred Douglass.  After William graduated from Sherman High School he enlisted in the military for 4 years and became a Sergeant.   William married Ila Jean Sherfield.  William's children are Sharie Atwanett Bowen and Christopher Bowen.
He worked at an industrial tree service in Plano, Texas.  He grew up in Bowen Chapel COGIC Whitewright, Texas then went to King Street COGIC Friendly Church of God in Christ, and to Powerhouse Ministries Church of God in Christ.
William was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cleophus M. Bowen; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Luper.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sharie; son, Christopher; and 6 grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Winters and husband, Isaac, of Denison, Texas; brother, Elder Melvin Bowen and wife, Dorothy ,of Sherman; sister, Lena M. Bowen Brothers; of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; aunt Ellen Orr of McKinney, Texas; uncle, James Luper of Sherman, Texas; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
The graveside service was held Saturday morning, January 23, 2021 in the Whiterock Cemetery, Whiterock Community, Texas with Dr. C.E. Davis officiating.  Burial followed the service.   Arrangements were  entrusted to James E. Smith and the professionals at Waldo Funeral Home. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
