Mrs. J.H. Dickson of Tom Bean died on the 6th inst.  
She is survived by her husband and one da ughter, Miss Inez; also by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Smith of Austin.
Interment was in the cemetery at White Mound.

Tom Bean's Oldest Business Man Is Called By Death
J.H. Dickson, 72, Succumbs To Heart Attack Early Thursday Morning

The entire community was shocked Thursday morning when it became known that J.H. Dickson,  prominent in local business circles for many years, had passed away shortly after 6 o'clock, following a sudden heart attack.
A pioneer of this section, Mr. Dickson entered in business in 1892 and had been here since that time, a period of 43 years.
He had been in failing health for some time but was at his store every day and was on duty Wednesday as usual.   He worked in his garden Wednesday and attended the ball game at Pennell park that night.
Joseph H. Dickson was born October 24, 1864 at Anderson, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. R.L. Burks; and 4 grandchildren; a sister and 3 brothers.
Mr. Dickson was president of the First National Bank of Tom Bean, and secretary of the Tom Bean-Sherman Telephone Co.  He was a member of the Methodist church and was affiliated with the A.F. & A.M. and W.O.W. lodges.
Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 p.m. with his pastor, Rev. J.F. Fender officiating.
All business houses will probably be closed in respect to this worthy citizen and pioneer.

LARGE CROWD ATTENDS FUNERAL SERVICES FOR J.H. DICKSON, Tom Bean Pioneer
Long Active in Local Affairs; Resident of Section For Over Half-Century

Last rites were held Friday afternoon for Joseph H. Dickson, 71, long identified with the business life of this community.  A large crowd filled the Methodist church where he had long worshiped to over-flowing to pay their last respects to a man who had meant much to this community.
Mr. Dickson passed away suddenly last Thursday morning.  Although in declining health for some time, he had been at his store every day.
Mr. Dickson was born October 24, 1864 in Anderson, South Carolina, and had come to Texas with his parents while a boy.  He came to Grayson county while a youth and had been her since.  In reminiscing to this writer a few weeks ago Mr. Dickson told of how he helped lay the Cotton Belt railroad from Bailey to Sherman in 1887.  Shortly afterwards the town of Tom Bean was established and in 1892 he founded the drug business which he has operated continuously since that time, a period of over 43 years.
He was first married to Miss Jennie Smith who died in 1916.  In 1919 he married Miss Adeline Cooke, who survives him.  He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. R.L. Burks; 4 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Wilkerson of Carthage; 3 brothers, Lute of Tioga; W.B. of Sherman; and Walter of Tom Bean; 2 nephews, J.N. Dickson, county auditor; and Joe L. Dickson of Denison.
Mr. Dickson was president of the First National Bank of Tom Bean-Sherman Telephone Co.  He was superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school and long a member of that church.  He was also affiliated with the A.F. & A.M. and W.O.W. lodges.
Services were conducted at both the home and the church with Rev. J.F. Fender, local Presbyterian pastor and friend of many years, delivered the address.  He was assisted by Rev. W.F. Davis of Howe, his pastor.
Interment was at Whitemound Cemetery with W.T. Francis in charge.
All business houses closed their doors during the funeral.
