  Dr. J.J. Devine 8 August 1851 - 18 January 1917 H.H. Devine 1860 - 1944 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, January 13, 1944 pg.5 Mrs. Hortense Devine, 83, resident of Tom Bean died Saturday. Funeral services were held Sunday at the family home. Burial was in White Mound Cemetery. Mrs. Devine, wife of the late Dr. J.J. Devine, was born in Hot Springs County, Arkansas and came to Texas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Mitchell, at the age of two. She was a charter member of the Tom Bean Baptist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Miss Eva Devine and Mrs. G.W. Francis of Tom Bean; and a brother, J.H. Mitchell of Alice.
