Ronald L. Cotton, 85, died Thursday, February 2, 2023 at his home in Luella.  He was born October 21, 1937 in Alex, Oklahoma, son of Raymond Dillard Cotton and Bessie Mae Edwards Cotton.   He attended Chickasha, Oklahoma Schools and later served in the U.S. Army.
Ronald married Joetta Jeanette Taylor in Colorado on October 4, 1958.
For many years he worked the oilfields, starting at the bottom of the ladder before working his way up to be a driller and then a tool pusher.  Ronald was also good at construction, a trade he learned as a boy and young man from his father.  He and Joetta built their home in Chickasha.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and motorcycles.  When they were younger, it wasn't unusual for Ronald and Joetta to take off on cross county motorcycle trips.
Ronald and Joetta lived in Chickasa, Oklahoma for most of their married live before moving Luella, Texas about 16 years ago, where they joined the First Baptist Church of Luella.
Surviving are his loving wife; grandchildren: Michelle Loyd, Bradley Hicks, Daisy Cairns and Katie Johnston; brothers, Jerry Lee Cotton & Virgil Ray Cotton; sister, Lois Annette Niethammer; 8 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Peggy Sue Furia and Diana Renne Cairns.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning, February 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Luella with Pastor Bobby Hawkins officiating.  Burial followed at White Mount Cemetery.
