Mrs. Bettie Currin
Funeral services for Mrs. Bettie Fuqua Currin, 87, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Leslie O. Evans, pastor.  Burial was in the City Cemetery.  She died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday at her home here, following a stroke of apoplexy ten days previously.
Mrs. Currin was born in Logan County, Kentucky, April 1, 1850, daughter of the late Moses and Letitia Hogan Fuqua.  She was educated in Cumberland Presbyterian Seminary at Greenville, Kentucky, and was married to Sidney Currin after completing her school work.  Mr. Currin, a Confederate veteran, died in 1903.
She was an active member of the Baptist Church for more than 60 years, and on her 81st birthday, she was awarded a gold medal for perfect Sunday School attendance for two successive years.  She had been a resident of Whitewright for many years, having lived here and at Sherman since coming to Texas in 1879.  She possessed many heirlooms including letters written more than 100 years ago.
Surviving relatives are three grandchildren, Miss Pauline Binion of Pilot Grove, Tom Binion of Trenton and Lee Binion of Dallas.  An only child, Mrs. R.E.L. Binion, died in 1903
