Van Alstyne Leader

Miss Jennie Taylor was born at Van Alstyne, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Taylor, on May 18, 1860. She grew into young womanhood in this community and on March 23, 1881, was married to E.G. Beall.
To this union were born two sons, Ray and Ted Beall. Mr. and Mrs. Beall maintained their residence in Van Alstyne until December, 1904 when they moved to Dallas; from Dallas, they moved in 1908 to West Texas, making their home at Abilene and at Amarillo, from which place they moved some years ago to Tex-line, Oklahoma. Mrs. Beall passed into rest at Texhoma on Tuesday May 12, at the age of 64 years,
11 months and 24 days. The end came suddenly and was the result of an attack of heart trouble of but a few hours duration.
In her eleventh year, Mrs. Beall was converted and united with the First Christian church of Van Alstyne of which faith she remained a consistent adherent until her passing from earth marked the end of her activities. Intensely interested in religious and civic works, Mrs. Beall was a potent force in the organizations among the women in all of the places in which she lived. During her residence in Van Alstyne she was one of the leaders among the women of her church and in the more secular sphere took an active part in the work of the Culture Club, of which she was a charter member.
In the relation of the mother, the wife and the neighbor and the friend she exemplified fully all of the traits which bespeak the nobility of womanhood and which typify the most exalted of the sex.
We shall leave to others who were most intimately associated with Mrs. Beall the task of placing the appraisal which was her due upon her life, her character and her works and to fitly express the encomiums which she deserves.

As soon as the news of the death of Mrs. Beall reached Van Alstyne, hosts of the friends of the family expressed the most sincere sorrow at her passing, and many utterances her praise were heard. She is survived by her husband, E.G. Beall; two sons, Ray Beall of Texhoma and Ted Beall of San Antonio. Surviving also are three brothers, E.K. Taylor and Scott Taylor of Van Alstyne and J.C. Taylor of Los Angeles, California, and a number of other relatives. To all of these the most sincere sympathy of all of their friends and the entire populace of this community is vouchsafed.
A large gathering of friends, . . . which was held at the First Christian church on Friday, May 15. The services were conducted by Rev.  Leo Johnston, the pastor, Rev. C.B. Fielder, and J.D.L. McKinney.
Feeling tributes were paid the memory of Mrs. Beall and each of the speakers delivered eloquent words in praise of her splendid womanhood and exhaled character. The esteem and regard felt for Mrs. Beall was evident in the emotions of many of the friends present and found concrete expressions in beautiful floral offerings. Interment was had at the local cemetery, where the body was returned to earth beneath
a mound covered with flowers, emblematic at her death of the love and regard of many of those who loved and held affection for Mrs. Beall in life.
