FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR LATE JOHN BARRON

Van Alstyne, July 12 - Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Methodist church for
John M. Barron, 63, who died at his home in Van Alstyne on the morning of June 8.  Mr. Barron was a native of Cumberland county, Kentucky, born on Feb 6, 1863, but had resided in this section of Texas for the past 43 years.  On Nov. 17, 1884 he was married to Miss Rilla McWilliams by whom he is survived, with one son, Elbert Barron, connected with the Magnolia Petroleum Company and stationed at Morrison, Okla.  A member of the Presbyterian church, he was active in the organization of members of that denomination at Van Alstyne until the work here was suspended, when he, with Mrs. Barron, placed their membership in the First Presbyterian church of Sherman.  This, however, did not affect his or Mrs. Barron's interest in the work of the churches at Van Alstyne, and Mr. Barron was for some time prior to his death, the president of the Men's Bible class of the First Christian church Sunday school at Van Alstyne, while Mrs. Barron is a member of the teaching personnel in the Sunday school of the First Methodist church.  In addition to his widow and son, Mr. Barron is survived by two brothers, R.L. Barron, living in Oklahoma, and Henry Barron, connected with the United States Education Bureau in. . .
