 Samiel Huston Edmonds aged 89 of Van Alstyne, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 23, 2023.
Sam was born in Van Alstyne, Texas on April 2, 1934 to Daniel and Lona Edmonds. Sam met the love of his life, Ollie Edmonds, and they were married in 1956 in Bonham, Texas. He raised a family while working for 36 years at Sherman Cotton Oil Mill. Sam also worked for the City of Van Alstyne. Sam and Ollie were the beginning of a family that continues to grow and thrive in the community. Sam’s legacy was his family, and he would gladly talk to you for hours about them. Sam spent his free time raising cattle, square dancing and playing bass guitar in the Country Ramblers. Sam was preceded in death by his brother Vernon Edmonds, sister Bertha Doyle, nieces Danni Gail Hilliard, Deborah Embry, and nephew Joe Mack Hilliard. Sam is survived by Ollie Edmonds, his wife of 67 years; 4 children: daughter Patrica and Mike Caddell of Howe, Texas; son Richard Edmonds of Denison, Texas; daughter Karen and Aaron Williams of Van Alstyne, Texas; and son Steve Edmonds of Nevada, Texas. Nine grandchildren including Karmen Usrey and Brian Jeter of Howe, Texas; Danielle Caddell and Jacob Biffle of Sherman, Texas; Michael Caddell of Ferris, Texas; Shannon Green and Wes Grimes; Amanda Green-Chancy and Dusty Williams all of Van Alstyne, Texas; Cody and Brittni Williams of Howe, Texas; A.J. Williams of Van Alstyne, Texas; and Michael Edmonds of Thornton, Colorado as well as 8 great grandchildren: Logan Smith, Phynix Jeter, Kiahlynn Caddell, Layden Biffle, Seanna Roper, Davian Williams, Harper Williams and Carly Williams. Nieces: Delores Lewis and Janice James, both of Van Alstyne, Texas and sister-in-law Ida Edmonds of Van Alsytne, Texas and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM at Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W. Van Alstyne Pkwy. Van Alstyne, TX. 75495, immediately followed by the service at 11:00 AM.
