Edward Clinton David was born December 20, 1926 to Walter and Ofelia David in Douglas, Arizona. He resided in Arizona until 1945 when he was drafted into the Army. Upon his discharge from the military he returned to Arizona and eventually made his way to Texas in 1952. Ed was active in many organizations in Van Alstyne, including his beloved First United Methodist Church, Friends of the Library, Van Alstyne Historical Society and the American Legion Post #376. In 2003 he and his wife Alta Fay were voted Citizens of the year for the city of Van Alstyne.
Ed was released from his pain on September 24, 2019 when he went to his glorious home with the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alta Fay Haun David, two daughters Raenell Callies and husband Boone of Oak Harbor, Washington, Pam Story of Omaha, Nebraska and one son, Tom David and wife Janet of Plano, Texas. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Ed also had two step daughters, Kathy Ellison of Van Alstyne, Linda Dixon and husband Monte of Whitewright, Texas. Adding to this side of the family were 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
A remembrance of his extraordinary life will be on Saturday October 5, 2019 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church of Van Alstyne.
