VAN ALSTYNE - Services for William Andrew Barnes of Van Alstyne, 97-year-old retired farmer and minister who died Monday at his home, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. J. A. Moody and the Rev. Boyd Thomas will officiate and burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes was born in DeKalb, Tenn., a son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Barnes, and married Mary Elmey Bozarth on Aug. 2, 1908 in Russ Springs, Okla.  He was a member of the Van Alstyne Church of God.
Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Virgie Mae Bell, Mrs. Margie Bell, Mrs. Anna Clara Busby and Mrs. Nina Fae Smith, all of Van Alstyne, Mrs. Velma Pennington of Weatherford, Mrs. Addie Lou Turley and Mrs. Mary Louise Lay, both of Sherman; son, Billy Ray Barnes of Colorado City; sister, Mrs. Maude Starnes of Gunter; brother, Carl Barnes of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Tuley, Carl Tuley, Jerry Barnes, Gene Barnes, Don Bell, William Dee Barnes.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the residence, 301 Pearl St.
