Evelyn Louise McCartney, 87, of Van Alstyne TX passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022. Evelyn was born on March 9, 1935 in Nolanville TX, to parents, Elmer and Ettie Overa Cox Sutton. She married Bobby McCartney on May 21, 1953.


Evelyn was a stay-at-home mom to her 4 boys during their early years. Later, she did begin working in the medical field and after many years working in McKinney with Dr. Billy Boring Sr and Dr. Billy Boring Jr., she retired.
Evelyn was an exceptional cook and expressed her love for others through her baking and cooking. She would often cook someone their favorite meal or bake them their favorite dessert on their birthday. All the family loved her homemade bread and/or angel biscuits.
She loved to travel with Bobby around the country in their motor home. Above all else, she loved to have her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids around her. She attended many extra-curricular activities to see them participate in their academic or athletic events.
Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anna TX.
She is survived by her 4 sons, Danny McCartney and wife, Patti of Van Alystne TX; Larry McCartney and wife, Debbie of Collinsville TX; Mike McCartney and wife, Dona of Celina TX and Kirby McCartney and wife, Ealon of Gunter TX. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are, Nell Turner of Bastrop, TX; Mary Toombs of Irving TX; Lester Sutton of Houston TX and Gary Sutton of Eden TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby McCartney; her sister, Barbra Sue Highnote; her brother, Dug Sutton; her granddaughter, Tana McCartney and her great-granddaughter, Madison Sharrock.
A visitation will be on Friday Aug 19, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alystne TX. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 10:00am at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home and Crematory, Van Alstyne TX.
