William Cashman Frampton “Slim” passed away January 30, 2021 at his residence in Howe, Texas. He was born in Sherman on November 11, 1929 to Charlie and Neva Frampton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Horace and Bennie; and one sister, Opal Foster. Survivors include his wife, Velma Frampton; two sons, William Dana Frampton and Michael Ray Frampton, all of Howe; one sister-in-law, Annie Peacock; one brother-in-law, Steve Hawthorne, and several nieces and nephews.
Cashman lived in Howe all of his life, having lived on the same property since he was two years old. He worked for Burlington Industries for 37 years until it closed in 1987. Then he immediately went to work for Magni-Fab and worked there until he had a stroke in 2018. He was known as a hard-working, honest, quiet individual. He loved gardening, feeding the squirrels, fishing and hunting. He was hunting in South Texas with Hap Sanford, Joe King, and Cannon George and all except “Slim” had killed a deer when it was time to come home. The hunting guide had showed him a group of thirteen deer. Slim fired and the deer didn’t even move. One of the group said, “Framp, do you want to borrow my glasses?” He came home and asked if anyone wanted to buy a 30-30. Also, he was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
He reminisced about many hunting trips to Fannin County with brothers-in-law Steve, Daygo, and Man Hawthorne. The largest fish he ever caught was a 50 lb. Buffalo on a 15-foot surf rod. The fish was pulling him downstream when Dana held him while he reeled the fish onto shore. The fish weighed almost as much as he did! He gardened his whole life, but still couldn’t compete with his boy! Dana gave him first choice of plants and every advantage, but still couldn’t help his father win.
Slim will be remembered fondly by his friends and relatives. There will be a graveside service at the Van Alstyne Cemetery Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 10 AM with Rev. Danny Wood, Pastor of the West Sherman Baptist Church, officiating.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Annie Peacock, Doyle Peacock, and Charlie Hargrove for all of their help; and thanks to Lois Carter for being a best good friend.
