Jon Mikel Short age 59 of Van Alstyne, Texas passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 at his residence.
Jon was born December 10, 1961 in Amarillo, Texas to Jim and Billie Short.

Jon and his wife Terry were married for 36 years. Jon and his son Joshua had recently began a new farming project and as a family were preparing for a country lifestyle. Jon was a serious person, but also loved to laugh out loud with a gusto.
Jon loved soccer with a passion and he played all through school, and for the amateur team Texas Tornado’s. He never missed an opportunity to visit a projection booth to keep up his skill as a projectionist. Through Thick and Thin loved those Cowboys and enjoyed the Comedy of his classmate Jeff Dunham.
Jon’s favorite moments from school were marching band and his drumming. He often played drums later on at church. He enjoyed all moments to shoot off fireworks. While some people doodle when they are on the phone Jon would do math equations and formulas. He was all about numbers. K.A. For Life
Jon went through grade school in Richardson, TX and is an alumni of Richardson High School Class of 1980. He attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. He worked as a projectionist and played soccer until his life long career began in the restaurant industry which took off and lasted for 30 years. Jon truly loved his career and co-workers, and every guest was special. His favorite job was at the Jalapeo Tree.
Left to cherish his memories are his Wife; Terry Son; Joshua Sister; Jan Bedell and husband Allen Brother; Jamie Short Nieces; Alyssa Stephens and husband Scott; Samantha Short Nephew; Travis Short Great Nieces & Nephew Kenzie, Carter and Kayleigh Sister in Law; Susan Short.
Jon is preceded in death by his Parents Jim and Billie Short; Niece Jenee Bedell; and Brother Jay Short.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Fletcher, officiating. Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. A come and go visitation will be from 10:00AM to 5:00PM Monday, August 17, 2020 at the funeral home.
