Roy Olson, 77, of Van Alstyne passed away Dec. 30, 2021. He was born on Sept. 23, 1944 in Longview, Texas to the late Robert Orvel and Gracie Pearl Olson. He volunteered for active duty service in the
Army during the Vietnam War and served from 1965 to 1967. He retired from Raytheon in 2007 after many years of tireless work and dedication. He loved woodworking, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Olson of Van Alstyne; a son, Christopher Olson (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and a daughter, Heather Olson (Lance) of Layton, Utah. He was loved and adored by his four grandchildren, Connor Olson, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Raiff Haltli, Victoria Haltli, and Alyssa Haltli all of Layton, Utah. He is also survived by his sister Mary Camp (Sam) and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks goes to Brent Wood and to the doctors and nursing staff at Baylor, Scott & White Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday, January 7th at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday January 6th from 5 - 7p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne, Texas where Roy was an active member for almost 30 years.
