Sherman - Funeral service for Jimmie Edith Hunter Griffin were held Thursday morning, December 20 at the Howe Church of Christ.  Toby Soechting of the church officiated.  Burial followed at Van Alstyne Cemetery with Mrs. Griffin's grandsons serving as pallbearers.  Mrs. Griffin, 96, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center.
Jimmie was born April 14, 1922 in Van Alstyne, daughter of Killis and Irene Polston Hunter.  She lived her entire life in Grayson County and was a member of the Howe Church of Christ.  Mrs. Griffin worked 25 years at the Sherman Community Hospital as a Unit Clerk and enjoyed being active in the community and activities at Sherman Healthcare Center.  She loved flowers, spending time outdoors and cooking for her family.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by 3 sons, James Griffin and wife, Florene, of Tom Bean; Sam Griffin of Sherman; and Charles Griffin of Sherman; one daughter, Edith Jean Sims and husband, Joe, of San Antonio; 8 grandchildren, John Griffin, Eddie Griffin, Jeff Sims, Jana Castellano, Tracy Jones; Amie Cruce; Morgan Griffin and Daniel Griffin; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-grat-grandchildren; 2 sister, Dean Hertzog
and Darlene Stevens; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Richard Griffin.
