Donald Mark Baker was born on April 11, 1934 in Estherville, IA to William Everett and Ruby Esther Sonia (Davis) Baker. He peacefully passed from this life into eternal glory on April 10, 2021.
He grew up the son of a farmer and road grader operator, spending his childhood years in Estherville. During his youth, he was involved in many sports, including football and track and in high school worked as a golf caddy.
He graduated from Estherville High School in 1953. From there, he attended St. Paul Bible College from 1953-1956, earning a 3-year diploma in Bible Studies. He then enlisted in the US Army in December 1956 and served 2 years, mostly in Germany. He was honorably discharged in September 1958.
Donald moved to Anaheim, CA, where he worked as a gas station attendant, eventually going to work for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff. While attending Central Baptist Church, he met Janet Terwilliger and they married on April 14, 1962. While in California, two sons were born, John on October 4, 1963 and Joel, born May 6, 1965.
