In loving memory of Laura Mae Van Hooser Brown who passed away on August 12, 2016. Laura was born on January 11, 1945 in Sherman, TX. She was the daughter of Charles Holmes and Fannie Mae Stuteville. Laura attended school in Van Alstyne and graduated from Van Alstyne High School. Laura had retired from EDS in Plano, TX.

Laura was a member of the Texas Master Gardeners and enjoyed helping others with her extensive knowledge of native Texas plants. Most days Laura could be found working outside in her flower beds or doing volunteer work for the Master Gardeners. She also enjoyed reading, water skiing, snow skiing and traveling. She enjoyed organizing social events for family, and loved to hold a margarita party for her friends.
Preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Jimmy L. Brown; son, Randall Van Hooser; daughter, Kara Byrnes; sisters, Charleen Enstrom and Patty Gariepy; brothers, Kenneth L Stuteville and Billy Joe Stuteville; grandson Talon Byrnes and many nieces and nephews; as well as other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening, August 15th, 2016, at the Scoggins Funeral Home in
Van Alstyne, TX from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Scoggins Funeral Home is located at 637 West Van Alstyne Pkwy, Van Alstyne, TX. 903-482-5225.The memorial service will be held in the Scoggins Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
