HEAD-ON CRASH CLAIMS 2 LIVES

Van Alstyne - A 2-car head-on collision Tuesday night on a twisting blacktop road 4 miles east of Van Alstyne claimed the livesof 2 Van Alstyne persons and seriously injured 3 others.
Killed instantly were Mrs. Anna Belle Neill, 42, and Garland Orr, 66, both of Van Alstyne.
Mrs. Neill's children, Larry, 15, and Linda, 10, were in serious condition Wednesday at a Sherman hospital.
Orr's brother, Hugh, 65, driver of the Orr car, was also in serious condition at a hopsitla here.
The fatal crash occurred at the top of a hill on a narrow county road between Van Alstyne and the Cannon community.
The impact jammed the motors of both cars almost back into the front seats.  The steering wheel of the Neill car was completely torn out and thrown several feet from the wreckage.
Texas Highway Patrolmen John Hood and Bobby Poynter said the Neills were en route to the home of friends near Cannon.  The Orr brothers were....
The 2 Neill children received serious head and internal injuries in the crash.  Orr suffered internal injuries and multiple fracturs.
Survivors of Mrs. Neill include her husband, Harold; 2 daughters, Mrs. Peggy Ann Beaty of McKinney and Linda Marie Neill of Van Alstyne; 3 sons, Harold Neill, Jr., Donald Neill and Larry Neill, all of Van Alstyen; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Obin Whitaker of Van Alstyne; one sister, Mrs. Wanda Burns of Dotphan, Alabama;
6 brothers, Raymond
Caldwell of Van Alstyne; Erby Caldwell of Maryland; Willis Caldwell of Memphis, Tennessee; Frank Caldwell of Grand Prairie; and Elmer Caldwell of Dallas; and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.
Mr. Orr is survived by his wife; and one brother, Hugh, both of Van Alstyne.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Grayson Funeral Home in Sherman.

FUNERAL ARRANGED FOR VICTIM OF ACCIDENT
Van Alstyne - Funeral arrangements were held Friday afternoon for Mrs. Anna Belle Neill.
She was killed Tuesday night in an automobile accident east of Van Alstyne.
The services, directed by Flesher Funeral Home, were conducted at the First Christian Church, Rev. Mac Pope, Baptist minister of Plano and Rev. Tom Haley, pastor of the church officiated.  Burial was in Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mrs. Neill is survived by her husband, Harold, of Van Alstyne; 2 daughters, Mrs. Peggy Ann Beaty of McKinney and Linda Marie Neill of Van Alstyne; 3 sons, Harold Neill, Jr., Donald Neill and Larry Neill, all
of Van Alstyne; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orbin
Whitaker of Van Alstyne; one sister, Mrs. Wanda Burns of Dotphan, Alabama; 6 brothers, Raymond Caldwell of Van Alstyne; Erby Whitaker of Van Alstyne; Willis Whitaker of Memphis, Tennessee; Frank Whitaker of St. Petersburgh, Virginia; Glen Whitaker of Grand Prairie; and Elmer Whitaker of Dallas; and 2 grandchildren.
