Van Alstyne, Texas -- Guy William Anderson, Jr. of Van Alstyne went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 10, 2015.

Guy, born October 5, 1943, grew up in Sherman, surrounded by a large, loving, and close family.  He graduated from the University of North Texas in 1966 and SMU School of Law in 1971.  Guy practiced law in Dallas at Stroud & Smith; Vial, Hamilton, Koch & Knox; True & Sewell; and Sewell & Anderson, and served in various management capacities with those firms, helping to build those firms into firms which were sought out by other lawyers and clients.  He was a highly respected counselor whose advice and wisdom were much coveted by his clients, partners and associates.  He could quickly and succinctly cut through complicated and obtuse issues.

Guy possessed the ethics and principles of a bygone era when "attorney and counselor" enjoyed unique respect and admiration.  From his first job at Ashburn's Ice Cream to his retirement and beyond, he was an example of the success achieved from hard work, diligence, and tenacity.  He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, sailing, the cattle business, and being surrounded by his many bird dogs.  Fly fishing in Alaska and the western U.S. became a passion for him.

As patriarch of the family, he was committed to sharing holidays and special occasions with family and friends.  He was, above all, a family man, dedicated to his loving wife Sherry, children, and grandchildren with a special bond to his sister, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He had a delightful, kind, and loving heart.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne.

Guy William Anderson, Jr. is survived by his wife Sherry, children Priscilla and husband Andy, Rebecca and wife Taylor, Chase and wife Krista, grandchildren Whitney and Anderson, sister Nancy and husband Pascal, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
