Robert Wayne Bradley
1925 - 2016

Robert "Wayne" Bradley, 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in a Fort Worth
Care Center.  Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Van Alstyne Cemetery.  Officiating will be the Reverend Gary Gibbs. Wayne's grandchildren, Stephanie Bradley Miller and Scott, Jim Bob, Will, Betsy, and Patrick Bradley will serve as pallbearers.


Wayne was born February 18, 1925 in Farmington, Texas to Roscoe Thomas and Mary Agnes Bradley. 
He graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 1942.  He was known for his storytelling and sense of fun.  He never tired of sharing tales from "back in the day."


Wayne married Carol Ray Ireland, the prettiest girl he had ever seen, on Christmas Eve, 1943.  They raised four sons.  Wayne was a lifelong farmer and the third generation to work the land on "Hayhurst Crossing."

Wayne was an active member of First Christian Church of Van Alstyne, serving as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.  In later years he enjoyed attending Inspiration Point Cowboy Church in Tom Bean.  Wayne was one of the first Directors of Red River Co-op and the South Grayson Water Supply.  He also served on the Van Alstyne ISD School Board.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen Bradley Martin, and youngest son Stephen Mark.   He is survived by Carol, his wife of 72 years, three sons; Robert, Bill Tom and Noel, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Wayne was a devoted family man.  He was never happier than when he was on the sidelines at sporting events or ag shows cheering on his sons and grandchildren.   He never missed an opportunity to support and encourage his family.  Wayne had a ready smile, was quick to laugh, and will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.

Carol Ray Bradley
1926 - 2016


Fort Worth, Texas - Carol Ray Ireland Bradley, 90, passed away peacefully Friday, June 10, 2016 in a Fort Worth Care Center. Services will be held at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 12. Officiating will be the Reverend Gary Gibbs.
Carol's grandchildren, Stephanie Bradley Miller and Scott, Jim Bob, Will, Betsy and Patrick Bradley will serve as pallbearers.
Carol was born March 18, 1926 in Van Alstyne, the only child of Bill and Adelle Ireland. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1942, where she was a drum major.
Carol married Wayne Bradley of Van Alstyne on an icy Christmas Eve in 1943. They moved to Wayne's family farm at "Hayhurst Crossing" where they continued to live and work for the next 72 years. They raised four sons.
Carol worked for Van Alstyne ISD as a teacher aide and secretary for 33 years. She enjoyed her time working with the students, teachers and staff and considered them a second family.
Carol was an active member of First Christian Church of Van Alstyne, singing in the choir and working in the nursery. In later years she enjoyed attending Inspiration Point Cowboy Church in Tom Bean. She and Wayne loved to square dance and were members of both the Texoma Squares and Van Alstyne Square Dance Clubs.
Carol Ray Ireland Bradley was preceded in death by her parents, youngest son, Stephen Mark, and her husband of 72 years, Wayne, who died February 10, 2016. She is survived by three sons, Robert, Bill Tom and Noel, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Carol often spoke of her love of family and the simple country life. She enjoyed every opportunity to support and encourage her family and loved being part of their activities. Regardless of the weather, she could be found on the sidelines, often cheering the loudest. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by family and friends.
