Van Alstyne, Texas -- Marqueta "Ann" Murphy, 61, was born February 2, 1954; she was raised in the Van Alstyne community where she spent her early childhood and received her high school education. She worked various jobs in the texoma area, as a caregiver and a seamstress.

Marqueta, whom many called Ann, entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Oleta Murphy; brother, Morris Daniel Murphy; and sister, Lesidia Faye McLean.

Marqueta "Ann" Murphy is survived by her daughter, Rita Rocheal Murphy of Sherman, TX; brothers,: John Doyle Murphy (Nancy), Eddie Murphy (Lillie), Richard Murphy (Diane) and Darryle Murphy; sisters, Virginia McKinney, Wanda Lee, Linda Kelly (John E.) and Vickie Gipson (ST, Jr.); four grandchildren, Tichina, Matthew, Mia and Tevan; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Greywood Heights Church in Van Alstyne, with Rev. Wheatley Bell officiating. Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Public visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.
