Anna, Texas -- David Anthony "Tony" Howell, 53, received his wings on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 3:00 a.m. after a courageous, two-year battle with cancer. He leaves his soulmate of 29 years, Paula (Atchison) Howell; his two daughters, Hannah Lynn Howell and Summer Cardwell and her husband, Shane Vickers; five grandchildren, River Cochran, Conner, Austin, Logan, & Serenity Vickers; and many close friends.

Born October 9, 1962 in Lubbock, Texas and raised in New Deal, Texas, the son of Barbara (Kelley) and Don Howell.  Tony also leaves behind four brothers--Kelly, Toby, Barry, and Kasey Howell. In his teen years, he participated in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He graduated from New Deal High School in 1981. He moved to the Collin County area in 1986 where he met his wife, Paula, a teller, at the bank that handled his business account. 

They were married in 1992 at The Castle at Canyon Creek. He not only took pride in his roofing business, but truly relished life to the fullest after the birth of his daughter Hannah in 2001. Hannah's love for sports was inherited from her Dad's passion and competitive spirit. No matter what the playing surface--court, field, or track, Tony was her biggest cheerleader and fan. He will continue to cheer her on with every homerun hit, 3-point shot, every serve aced, or shot put medal won.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home, followed by burial in Van Alstyne Cemetery. Saturday the 14th is also Paula and Tony's 23rd anniversary, so come celebrate his life and their love with us. Funeral Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W.
