Howe - Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Howe for Jewell Arthur "Jude" Smith, 81, who died at his Howe home Thursday.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Sam Randolph of Howe First Baptist church with burial in the Van Alstyne Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Fannin County, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Smith. He married Alma Pearl Williams April 19, 1923, in Van Alstyne.  He had been a railroad employee for many years and retired at the closing of the interurban system.  He was a member of Howe First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers, all nephews, will be Rodney Smith, Truett Townley, Darrell Walker, Billy Wayne Smith, Eugene Smith and Durdeil Smith.
Survivors are wife of Howe; son, Jewell Wayne Smith of Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter, Mrs. Nelda Bumgardener of Carthage; brothers, Homer Smith of Whitewright and Ernest Smith of Sherman; and a sister, Mrs. Lorene Grisham of Greenville.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and other times at the residence, 566 N. Branch, Howe.
