Dr. McKinney Passes Away
Was Prominent Grayson County Physician; Home was at Gordonville
Dr. Turner McKinney, 58 years old, a practicing physician of Gordonville, died Sunday a 1 a.m.  Death came three hours after he suffered a heart attack while administering professional service.
A grandson of Collin McKinney, for whom Collin County and the town of McKinney were named, Dr. McKinney had practiced medicine in the Gordonville community for 30 years.  He was a director in the Red River Valley Fair association and was one of the leading breeders of thoroughbred Jersey cattle in North Texas.
Dr. McKinney was born in the old Mantua community near Van Alstyne and remained in that section until he was a young man.
Funeral services were to be held at 4 p.m. at the Methodist church in Van Alstyne following  a 15-minute service at 1 p.m. at the family home.  The Rev. Paul Cardwell, Methodist minister at Irving, the Rev.H.S. Porter, pastor of the Van Alstyne Methodist church, and J.D.L. McKinney, a relative, will officiate.  Burial will be in the Van Alstyne cemetery under the auspices of the Masons of Sherman, Gordonville and Van Alstyne.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ella McKinney, and two daughters, Miss Nadine McKinney of Cashion, Wichita county, and Frances Sue; one son, William (Billy) McKinney of Lubbock, and a brother, Clarence McKinney of Oklahoma.
His mother, Mrs. Lucy McKinney, 83 years old, of Collinsville, also survives.  His father, Dr. J.N. McKinney, died a short time ago.
Will Leslie of Sherman is an uncle.
Dr. McKinney had been a member of the Grayson county school board for two years when he died.  He was a member of the Methodist church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and a Mason.  He was born June 9, 1875.
Dannel-Scott funeral home of Sherman had charge of funeral arrangements.
