ELLA McKINNEY

VAN ALSTYNE - Services for Ella Ree McKinney, 63, who died Wednesday while at work at the elementary school here, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Eastside Church of Christ, conducted by Melvin Chappell and Bruce Johnson.
Burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery, under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home.
Mrs. McKinney was born in Texas, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Morris, and married Lynwood McKinney on Sept. 19, 1937, in Van Alstyne.  She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband of Van Alstyne; son Bob McKinney of Van Alstyne; sisters, Mable Lee McKinney and Pearlie Thompson, both of Van Alstyne; brothers, Richard Morris and Charlie Morris, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be E.D.McKinney, Paul Hickson, Eddie Murphy, Marvin Linson, Victor Williams, and Herschel Jackson.

         

Van Alstyne - Lynwood Napolean McKinney was born Dec. 20, 1910 to Henry "Chick" and Katy McKinney.  He had one brother, Hank McKinney and one sister, Alma Williams.  He died Monday Oct. 20, 2003, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside church of Christ in Van Alstyne with Welton Stoker, Larry Shead and Charles Shaw officiating.  Burial followed at Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Lynwood was educated in Denison Texas at Terrell High School.
In 1937, he married Ella Ree Morris and from that union was born Robert Lynn McKinney.  Ella Ree preceded him in death in 1981.
Lynwood maintained various jobs in his life and had an active community presence.
He served on the Van Alstyne City Council for eight years, as well as being the Worshipful Master for Prince Hall Masonic Lodge.
He retired from the First National Bank, now know as Texas Star Bank, in Van Alstyne.
He was a leading brother and faithful member of the East Side church of Christ until his death.
Surviving are his son, Robert "Bob" McKinney and his wife, Altha, of Van Alstyne; grandchildren - Phyllis Mutzman, Eric McKinney, Dinah McKinney, Timothy McKinney and Lenore McKinney.  He is also survived by two nieces, Ruby Little of San Diego and Alice Williams of Dallas.
