Van Alstyne, Texas - Cecil Achimon, age 86, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.  Funeral services will be Saturday, January 15 at Howe Church of Christ at 10 a.m.  Officiating will be Doug Bickenbach and Toby Soechting.  Interment will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Cecil was born May 3, 1918, the son of Barney Achimon and Nanny Pearl Vineyard Achimon.  He married Mildred Walker, his childhood sweetheart, on October 14, 1938.  They celebrated their 65th anniversary
in 2003.  They spent 66 happy years together.

He was a farmer.  He farmed at Van Alstyne, Bristol, and Venus for several years.  He loved farming and raising cattle.
He was a devoted member of the Howe Church of Christ.  He served as Elder at Trenton Church of Christ and Deacon at Bristol and Venus.  He loved reading the Bible and often got up during the night to study the Bible.  He loved teaching his grandchildren the Bible.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Mildred; one son, L.C. Achimon and wife Donnita of Tom Bean; one daughter, Betty Chumbley and husband John of Howe; 5 grandchildren.

Mildred Walker Achimon
14 April 1923 - 18 February 2022

Mildred Walker Achimon, age 98, passed peacefully in her home on February 18, 2022. She was born April 14, 1923 to John Calvin Walker and Lillie Woods Walker on a farm near Howe, Texas. She survived all of her brothers and sisters.
Mildred married Cecil Achimon, the love of her life on October 14, 1938. Mildred and Cecil had two children, L C Achimon and Betty Chumbley. Mildred helped Cecil on the farm working with him side by side while their children were small. Later on in life, she went to Nursing School at Wilson N Jones Hospital, got her degree, and began working as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She loved nursing so well that she entered Grayson County College in the Registered Nurse program and got her Associates degree as a Registered Nurse. Nursing wasn’t just a job for her, but more of a calling. She considered it a joy to be able to help and care for the sick.
Mildred worked at Wilson N. Jones Hospital for 27 years on the medical surgery floor, pediatrics intensive care, and was House Supervisor. She worked as 3-11 House Supervisor for 16 years.
Mildred was an active member of the Howe Church of Christ. She taught Vacation Bible School for many years as well as served on the refreshment committee. She loved working in her yard and in her garden.
She was dearly loved and cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her door was always open to them and anytime they came by her house, she made them something to eat and sat down to visit for as long as they could stay. She would take the smaller kids on a golf cart ride or to go see the chickens. Mammaw always had time and made sure they knew how much she loved them. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Achimon; her son, L C Achimon; her parents, John and Lillie Walker; her granddaughter, Lisa Jones; her grandsons, Gary Achimon and Mark Achimon; her three brothers, Monroe Walker, Melvin Walker, and Marvin Walker; six sisters, Mae Boyer, Minnie Umphress, Myrtle Achimon, Melba Goforth, Marie Dhane, and Monnie Morris.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Betty Chumbley and husband John; daughter-in-law Donnita Achimon; three grandsons Donnie Achimon and wife Sharon, David Chumbley, and Philip Teel; two granddaughters Michelle Vickery and husband Brad and Kim Carson and husband Wade; one granddaughter-in-law Evelyn Achimon; six great-grandsons Matt Achimon and wife Maghan, Clay Marable, Brady Carson, Colt Vickery, and Dosson Chumbley; nine great-granddaughters Lyndsey Jones, Lacey Braun and husband J R, Holly Eddings and husband Cliff, Lauren Achimon, Kelsie Myers and husband Johnathon, Sydney Strickland and husband Dustin, Kate and Libby Carson, and Dakota Chumbley and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Howe Church of Christ, Howe, TX, with Aaron Alsbrook, officiating. Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Chumbley, Wade Carson, Brad Vickery, Donnie Achimon, Philip Teel, and Matt Achimon. The family will receive friends one hour prior of service at the church.
