Van Alstyne, TX - Grace Elizabeth Woodling passed away the morning of March 28, 2009 after a brief illness.  She was one of nine children born on April 28, 1913 to Daniel L. and Ione Corrine Fields of Westminster, TX.
In the late 1930's and early 1940's she worked in McKinney as a secretary for Texas Power & Light.  Grace met her future husband in 1939 and after WW2 married Victor Woodling September 1945 after he returned from the War.  They lived in Peoria, IL and Singapore for many years before returning to her beloved Texas.  She traveled the world extensively and had many stories to share with her friends and family.  She enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements, gardening, playing bridge, playing the organ and entertaining in her home.  Grace and Vic spent many long hours volunteering at the Van Alstyne public library and the Van Alstyne Historical Museum.  She was an active member of the Culture Club
and the 1st United Methodist Church of Van Alstyne.

She is survived by one son, Victor Woodling of Centerville, GA, four granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Joyce Means of Van Alstyne, TX.  She was preceded in death by
her husband Victor A. Woodling and one son Gregory Lyle.

The family asks that any donations b e made to the Van Alstyne Friends of the Library or Heart to Heart Hospice of Lewisville, TX.
Graveside services for Mrs. Woodling will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Van Alstyne Cemetery under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home with Rev. Gail Landis officiating.  The family will gather for visitation at 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, one hour prior to the service.
