DEATH ROLL

Following an illness of one week, George W. Whiteside, well known Denison man for years engaged in the hotel business but who retired several years ago, died at a local hospital  Sunday afternoon.  He made his home at 515 W. Chestnut.  For years he was associated with the hotel which was located at 500-502Main and which was destroyed by fire about 25 years ago.
Funeral services were held Wednesday from the  Short-Murray chapel with interment at Van Alstyne.

Born Dec. 25, 1863 in Kentucky, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Whiteside. He came to Grayson County 54 years ago, locating near Van Alstyne.  He was a telegrapher for many years and later was employed by Hotel Simpson here as manager and clerk.  He was a clerk in a clothing store at Sherman several years before his retirement.  He has resided at the Chestnut street address several years.
