Sherman - Vern Vale Vaught of Sherman, 86-year-retired farmer, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at his home.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10 in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne.  Burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mr. Vaught was born on March 17, 1914, in Eufaula, Okla., the son of Otho and Elizabeth Cox Vaught.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Luella and the North Texas Dance Club.  He was a Master at 42 and checkers.  His main hobby was woodworking. In the '30s, he joined the CCC's, a governmental agency formed for young men to help their family financially.  During World War II, he worked for the North American Aircraft in Dallas.
Surviving are his two step-daughters, Cheryl Hawkins of Sherman, Texas and Debbie Frankie of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Aline White of Howe; two brothers, Tom Vaught of Dallas and Henry Vaught of Clovis, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal visitation.  The family will be at the residence in Sherman.
