Hammonds Stephens 14 February 1899 - 23 September 1974 Sherman Democrat Thursday, September 24, 1974 Van Alstyne - Services for Mrs. Agnes LaVerne Stephens, 75, of Van Alstyne, who died Monday at a Van Alstyne nursing home, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Bob Milligan and Rev. Jerry Scott, Baptist ministers. Burial will be at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mrs. Stephens was a Texas native and a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter Mrs. Ruth Leota Gaskill of Plano; son, James E. Hammonds of Howe; sister, Mrs. Lexia Reynolds of Van Alstyne; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Bob Stephens, Jesse and Stanley Reynolds, Bobby Douglas, Johnny Lee Gaskill and Ellis Wayne Hammonds. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at other times at 305 S.E. Main.
