Following an illness of several weeks, I.J. Sprowl died at his home north of Van Alstyne Wednesday.  Born in Monroe county, Kentucky, on December 25, 1848, Mr. Sprowl was 78 years, 1 month and 22 days old at the time of his death.  He was married on August 15, 1877 to Miss Rosetta Hestand, by whom he is survived, together with two sons and four daughters.
Mr. Sprowl moved from Kentucky to Texas about 27 years ago, and settled in this community, making
his home here since that time.  He was well known and highly regarded by a large circle of friends here and elsewhere.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Christian church, conducted by Rev. Leo Johnston, with interment following at the local cemetery.
Pallbearers will be as follows: John Spence, W.R. Crook, Luther sterling, Gus Lewallen, Pearl Douglas, D.O. Hall.
Honorary: Ed Brown, S.H. Pattie, J.T. Sheridan, John Umphress, J.D.L. McKinney, F.R. Slaughter, P.M. Baker, J.D. Judd, W.H. Douglas, Dr. William Veazey.
We shall have further reference to Mr. Sprowl next week.
