MRS. CLARENCE SKIPWORTH

Mrs. Nola Skipworth, wife of Clarence Skipworth, died at her home near Van Alstyne on Monday of this week. Funeral services were held on Tuesday conducted by Rev. Leo Johnston, pastor of the Christian church, of which Mrs. Skipworth was a member. A large number of friends attended the funeral and the interment which was held at the Van Alstyne cemetery.
Mrs. Skipworth was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. V. Skipworth and was born in Tennessee, September 15, 1882. In 1911, she became a Christian and united with the Christian church, retaining her membership in that body until her death. Mrs. Skipworth was twice married, her first husband, Richard Hunnicutt, dying a few years after the marriage. In March 1918, she was married to Clarence Skipworth, by whom she is survived, together with three children, two of whom are by her first husband. In addition to these, she is survived by her mother, one brother and one sister.
Quiet and without ostentation in her life, Mrs. Skipworth was all that could be desired in the devout Christian, the devoted mother, wife and daughter, and her death is a blow not only to her immediate family, but a loss to the entire community. The Power which rules our destinies is beseeched by all for comfort for the bereaved husband, children and relatives.
Friends of the family in this community unite in extending to the relatives the most sincere sympathy.

CHILD DIES FROM BURNS

Clarence Skipworth and his family has the sympathy of all of the people of this community because of the misfortune which befell them when on last Sunday morning, one of his little children, died from the effects of burns received Saturday. The child, whose mother died about two years ago, and who was being reared by its grandmother, was in a room at the Skipworth home, the grandmother having stepped out. During her absence the child's clothing became ignited from a fire in the room. Another of the children called to the grandmother, who extinguished the flames, but not before the child was so severely burned that death ensued.
Mr. Skipworth has a host of friends in this community all of whom share with him his sorrow at this calamity.
