Runnels 9 November 1889 - 30 January 1961 Sherman Democrat Monday, July 5, 1974 VAN ALSTYNE - Services for Charles Albert Runnels of Van Alstyne, 89, retired farmer and cemetery sexton who died Sunday at a Sherman Hospital, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Scott of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Van Alstyne cemetery. Mr. Runnels was an Oklahoma native and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He married the former Lydia Brinlee on July 24, 1966. Surviving are his wife; daughters, Mrs. Mary Etta William of Grand Prairie, Mrs. Faye Gouard of San Antonio; sons, J.O.Runnels of Lewisville and Elmer Runnels of Sherman; brother, George Runnels of Denton; sister, Mrs. Minnie Sanders of Sherman; stepsons, Isaac Maxwell of Sherman, Albert Maxwell of Hereford, Odell Maxwell of El Paso; stepdaughters, Mrs. Katherine Reatherford of Sherman, Mrs. Bessie Camerson of McKinney and Imogene Milligan of Slidell; 19 Grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
