Wanda Louise Parker, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in McKinney, TX.
Louise was born on January 30, 1931 in Pilot Grove, TX. She was the daughter of Mack and Susie Hartsfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Wayne Hartsfield.
She married Hancel (Hank) Parker on June 14, 1952 in Sherman, TX. They lived happily together in Van Alstyne, TX until Hancel’s death on June 11, 1997.
Louise was a 1948 graduate of Van Alstyne High School. She worked at GTE (Verizon) for over 30 years. She started as a local telephone operator in Van Alstyne and later worked in Denton, Lewisville and Sherman. She ended her career as a Warehouse Manager where she took pride in her forklift driving skills.
Louise was known as a hard worker and a tireless caregiver. She loved helping her friends and family with events. She cared for her mother, Susie, and her husband, Hancel, in her home until their passing. She enjoyed playing Forty-Two at the Senior Center and traveling to the casinos with her friends to play the quarter slot machines.
She is survived by her son, Randy Parker, and his wife, Kelly, of McKinney; and her two beloved granddaughters, Caroline Parker of College Station, TX and Catherine (Cate) Parker of Lubbock, TX. She cared for the girls often and loved having sleepovers at her house where they would bake goodies and play Uno and Murder. Caroline and Cate were the light of Meemaw’s life. While the girls have been away at college, she kept up with their daily comings and goings.
