Whitewright, Texas -- Johnie Fae Owens went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2016. She was a longtime resident of Whitewright, Texas.
Johnie was born February 23, 1925 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Charles and Rosa E. Parvin Hayes. She had worked for Burlington in Sherman, Texas before becoming a homemaker. She was also a devoted wife and mother. Johnie was a wonderful Seamstress; she loved to cook for everyone who stopped in and was known for her delicious Pecan Pies. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Whitewright, Texas. Johnie married James Veaon Owens, December 22, 1951 in Greenville, Texas.
Johnie is survived by her husband, James Owens of Whitewright, TX; they were a devoted couple for 64 years. One Son; Charles and wife Beverly Owens of Tom Bean, TX and nieces; Diana and Johnny Poplin of Farmersville, TX; Sharon and husband Gary Coleman of Farmersville, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Rosa Hayes, of Blue Ridge, TX; Sisters; Ruby Hayes, of Blue Ridge, TX; Leona Griffin, of Farmersville, TX and brother; Charles Hayes of Farmersville, TX.
Funeral services for Johnie will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at the Bethel Baptist Church
in Whitewright, with Bro. Roland Ouellette officiating; burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery, in Van Alstyne, Texas.

Family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W. Van Alstyne, Pkwy Van Alstyne, Texas 75495



James Veaon Owens (Pop O) 92 of Whitewright TX passed away at his home April 17, 2021. He was born May 12, 1928 in Van Alstyne TX to Lillie (Edmison) Owens and Jesse Owens.
He was a supervisor for Burlington in Sherman TX. He was a Sunday school teacher and Deacon for many years at Bethel Baptists Church in Whitewright TX. He was a true servant of God by serving others in any way he could. God had more work for him to do after surviving a bad accident on his farm in 1986. He inspired many with what all he could do after losing his arm. He dearly loved studying his bible, working on his farm, visiting with others, and his pecan trees. His best friend was his old cat Squeaky. They had long talk’s everyday about life.
James faithfully and lovingly took care of his wife in her later years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Johnie Fae Owens, step father L.J Edmison, His two brothers Leo and Joe Owens, and Nephew Randy Owens. He is Survived by his son Charles and wife Beverly, a niece Janet Craver and nephew Mitchell Owens.
In lieu of flowers the family asks if you pass on his legacy and motto. How can I Help You! Do a good deed for someone.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel
with Pastor Eddie McCartney, officiating. Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM prior of service.
