Sunday, October 23, 1977 Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Waldo Funeral Chapel for Floyd M. Nelson, 69, of 714 E. Lamar, who died Saturday at his residence. Services will be conducted by Rev. R.M. Williams of East Sherman Baptist Church and Rev. Don Elmore of Grayson Bible Baptist Church with burial at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mr. Nelson was born at Ida, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Nelson and married Ruby Lee Sprowl on Sept. 8, 1928, in Van Alstyne. He had been employed by Mayo Grocery and Earl Stone Grocery and worked for Quaker Oats a number of years. He was a member of East Sherman Baptist Church. Survivors are wife of Sherman; son, Mike Nelson of Arlington; daughters, Mrs. Doris Shepard, Mrs. Shirley Schnitker, Mrs. Pat Shay, all of Sherman; brothers, Arvil Nelson and Charlie Nelson, both of Haskell, Okla.; sisters, Mrs. J.H. Ellis, Mrs. Harley Ellis, both of Cyril, Okla., and Mrs. Ida Ford of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Roy Roderick, John Cole, Earl Stone, Ben Patton, Tom Thorn and Luther Cummins. The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. and other times at 714 E. Lamar.
