Van Alstyne, Texas -- Kay Frances Webb Nance was born on March 15, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to Randall
E. and Ruth McMahan Webb and left this life on May 28 at Meadowbrook Care Facility.   She graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 1952 and married Charles A. "CA" Nance on May 3, 1952. 


Kay followed CA during his Army tenure to Anchorage, AK; Van Nuys, C A.; Tacoma, WA; El Paso, TX; Abilene, TX; Oberammergau, Germany; Painesville, OH; and then back to Van Alstyne where they made their home.  They were married for 47 years prior to his death.  She and CA loved to fish and go camping and were very involved in the Van Alstyne community. 

While in Germany Kay was the President of the NCO Wives’ Club.  She was instrumental in organizing and founding the first girls’ softball league in El Paso, TX with the field being named in her honor.  She was the first President of the Van Alstyne Community Education Association. 

Kay worked as an Executive Secretary for Gooch’s meats in Abilene; Fielder’s Penny Pincher’s Warehouse, Van Alstyne High School Secretary, Texoma Regional Planning Commission and First Christian Church of Van Alstyne as the office Secretary. Kay was known as Mom, Granny, Nanny Kay, and Grandma. 

Kay is survived by her daughter, Liz Nance of Van Alstyne; sons Randy Nance of Seagoville; Gerry and wife Debbie Nance of Van Alstyne;  grandchildren Marcie Cremeans and husband Vince of Carrollton;  Brandi Stowers and husband Phillip of Van Alstyne;  Chris Nance and wife Rebecca of Raeford, NC; Nick Nance and wife Victoria of Dallas; Jessica Cain and husband Nick of Van Alstyne; great grandchildren Zane Melton and Parker Cremeans of Carrollton; Emma and Carter Stowers of Van Alstyne; Jaedyn and Harrison Nance of Dallas; Camden Nance of Raeford, NC;  Sister Stephany Haile and husband Charley
of Uvalde;  nieces Keri Davis of Mississippi and Kelly Opferman of Pennsylvania and several great nephews.  Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband C. A. and a great granddaughter Greyson Aubrey Cain.


Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Van Alstyne Cemetery. Pastor Scott Holcomb-McLain will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meadowbrook
Care Facility/Kay Nance Memorial Fund.  Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas. 903-482-5225.
