Upon graduation Bob entered the Air Force where he proudly served for four years.

After he left the Air Force, Bob and his family returned to their hometown of Van Alstyne.  He became a very active member of Elmont Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1973 and served as chairman of the deacon body for many years. Bob had a heart for the youth of the church and  he believed  in personally disciplining others (. . . the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.  2 Timothy 2:2)  He also served as Sunday School Director, Discipleship Director and filled in as Music Director as needed.  He loved to share with others about the love of Jesus and the sufficiency of God's grace.  He was passionate about studying and teaching the Word of the Lord (“And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.” Psalm 119:47).

Bob worked at Texas Instruments in Richardson and Sherman.  He was a machine shop supervisor and had several patents while employed with TI.  He retired in 1996.  After his retirement he enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. Bob was an avid fisherman but he was also a fisher of men (“. . . .follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19).  He cherished every moment he was able to spend with the “apples of his eye” his nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Above all Bob loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, strength and mind. (Luke 10:27)
