VAN ALSTYNE - Dwight Lee Day, 74-year-old Van Alstyne resident, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22 at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne. Officiating will be Kelly Montgomery and Bobbie Hatch. Burial will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mr. Day was born on Oct. 30, 1932 in Van Alstyne, Texas, son of William Frank Day and Mattie Oshie (Starnes) Day. On Oct. 29, 1965 he married Maudine Whitfield in Van Alstyne.
Dwight worked for the city and decorated the Van Alstyne water tower for 20 years. He loved Christmas and won awards for
his house decorations. He devoted his life to his grandchildren. He was a Master of Entertainment at music shows for the community for nine years and served on the Van Alstyne City Council.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Coleman, Cory Coleman, Benny Edwards, Billy Edwards, Albert Baker and Charles Coleman. Honorary pall bearers will be Sam Edmonds and Bill Kanady.
Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Maudine Day of Van Alstyne, Texas; two sons, Ricky Day and Kevin Day and wife, Jamie of Gainesville, Texas; on daughter, Sherian Day Coleman of Sherman; eight grandchildren, Cory Coleman and wife, Kay of Carrollton, Texas, Cameron Coleman of Sherman, Tori Day and Zachary Day, both of Van Alstyne, Alyssa Day, Devon Day, Kailey Day and Jakoby Day, all of Gainesville; and one sister, Imogene Crawley of Van Alstyne.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Thursday, December 21.
He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
