Van Alstyne, Texas -- Doris McNeese Johnston, 83, of Van Alstyne, Texas went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2016. 

Doris was born on October 23, 1932 in Westminister, Texas, to George and Mary (Ingram) McNeese.  She graduated Van Alstyne High School in 1950 and married the love of her life, Guy Douglas Johnston, on December 24, 1951.  Doris was a lifelong resident of Van Alstyne, a member of the First Christian Church, and worked 17 years at the First National Bank, while working part time at the Post Office, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1999 after 40 years of service. 

Doris McNeese Johnston is survived by her daughter, Pam Kirkland of Richardson, TX, and son, Vic Johnston, and wife Cathy of Van Alstyne.  She is also survived by granddaughters, Lindsey Kirkland of Dallas, TX, Jessica Johnston of Tyler, TX, Jana Nobles and husband Travis of Sherman, TX and Julie Talamantes and husband Rene of Sherman, TX.  Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Zavier and Isabelle Talamantes, and Sawyer Nobles and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends.

Also surviving are her brother, Charles McNeese and wife Virginia and brother, Billy McNeese, all of Richardson, TX and sister-in-law, Linda McNeese of Oakton, VA.  Doris was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Guy Douglas Johnston, her brother, Jack McNeese, and her baby sister, Georgia Carol McMahan.

Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Scoggins Funeral Home and funeral services on Saturday, March 5, 2016 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Van Alstyne with internment following at Van Alstyne Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Christian Church of Van Alstyne, P.O. Box 626, Van Alstyne, TX 75495.

Funeral services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne, TX; 75495.
