It is with deepest sorrow and regret that we record the death of one of Van Alstyne's most lovable characters, Mrs. T.P. Howle, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.L. Veazey, early last Sunday morning after several weeks of severe illness.
Mrs. Howle was 73 years of age, having been born on September 15, 1860.
She was christened Louvinia Burson and in 1877 married Mr. Thomas P. Howle near her native home in Tallapoosa county, Alabama.  They moved to Texas a year later, making their home at Van Alstyne, in 1880.
Since coming to this city Mrs. Howle has been an untiring, ever faithful worker in the Baptist church, the church she joined in early girlhood.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist church, followed by interment in the Van Alstyne cemetery with Rev. Frank Johnston, her pastor, officiating.  Yoder Undertakers were in
charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Howle is survived by one sister, Mrs. D. Porch, who now lives at San Angelo; three children, Mrs. R.L. Veazey, and Grover Howle of this city, and Mrs. Will Pierce of Ft. Worth; five grandchildren, Robert and Raymond Veazey, Dorothy and Grover Howle, Jr. of Van Alstyne; Mrs. A.N. Allen of Ft. Worth, and one great-grandchild, A.N. Allen, III, also of Ft. Worth.
