James Miller Neathery

Died in Van Alstyne, Texas. He married Georgia Wilson Hayes in Bells, Texas, on 3 October 1880. She was from Breadfordsville, Kentucky.
On 14 April 1876 at the age of 17, James went to Netonia, Missouri. On 16 May 1877, he moved to Pilot Grove, in Grayson County, Texas, where he worked as a clerk in a drug store. January 8, 1880, he opened a drug store business in Van Alstyne, Texas, where he remained until his death. Buried in Van Alstyne Cemetery, Van Alstyne, Grayson County, Texas. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Centennial Lodge No. 500, A. F. & A. M., and a Republican in politics.

Mr. & Mrs. J.M. Neathery were married October 3, 1880, 58 years ago in Bells, Texas.  They moved to Van Alstyne 50 years ago and have resided here since.  Mr. Neathery was born Jan. 8, 1859, in Albany, Ky., and came to Texas in 1876, settling in Pilot Grove.  Mrs. Neathery was born Jan. 1, 1863, in Marion county, Ky., and came to Texas at the age of 13 first settling in Denton county.  Mr. Neathery is 80.  Mrs. Neathery is 76.  Mr. and Mrs. Neathery joined the Baptist church 45 years ago.  They have two children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Their children are Mrs. J. Hie McKinney of Quanah and J. Hansel Neathery of Donaldsville, La.
