After retiring from active duty the family returned to Sherman where Veneble began a second career in 1960 as an Air Force civilian employee at Perrin AFB.  During this period he and Elizabeth became guardians of her niece and nephew.   When Perrin closed in the early 1970s, Veneble transferred to MacDill AFB, in Tampa where he remained until returning  to Sherman in 1996.

In 2008 Veneble married the former Evelyn Jay, his childhood neighbor, playmate, and classmate at Cold Spring School and Van Alstyne High School.  He was a member of Western Heights Church of Christ, the American Legion Post of Van Alstyne and the Perrin AFB Museum.
