Akin 1868 - 1947 Van Alstyne Leader January 10, 1947 Page 1 Former Resident Dies; at Lone Oak Burial Here Funeral services for William Clark Akin were held Wednesday at the Baptist Church at Lone Oak with the minister, Rev. Chas. Hart officiating. Burial was in Van Alstyne Cemetery with Fox-Fanning Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Akin, a former resident of this community, died at his home in Lone Oak Monday night at 9:50. He was a retired farmer and had lived most of his life near Van Alstyne. He moved to Lone Oak two years ago. Mr. Akin was born April 28, 1868 in Kentucky, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Akin. He was married to the former Martha Johnson Bailey, who died in 1940. Pallbearers were: Howard Crump, Linden Hanson, Elmer Spikes, John Bearden, L.C.Harrison and W.E.Chapman. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Lena Russell, Sherman; Mrs. Lola Rogers, Lone Oak; Ms. Beulah Davis, Collinsville; a son, A.C.Akin, Collinsville; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Reed, Slayton, Texas and Mrs. Susan Bailey, Leonard; a brother, Wick Akin, Van Alstyne; and six grandchildren.
