Funeral services for Clifford Marion Martin will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:00pm in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Van Alstyne Cemetery with Bobby McKinney, Mark Wood, Steve Campbell, Jeff Ringness, Greg Ringness, and Bobby Massey serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3-5pm at Waldo Funeral Home.

Marion was born December 3, 1923 in Van Alstyne, Texas to James and Minnie Martin and passed from this life on Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the Bonham VA Nursing Home at the age of 89. Marion was raised and graduated from Van Alstyne schools. After graduation he married Bobbie Hood on April 24, 1943 in Sherman. Marion joined the Marine Corps in November 1943 and was with the 5th Marine Division at Iwo Jima. After his honorable discharge, they came to Sherman and he worked for Kreager's Feed Store for
20 years and Washington Iron Works for 22 years. Marion enjoyed working in the yard, watching football and baseball on television. He was a people person and enjoyed talking to people. His family can attest that he never met a stranger. Marion was a member of West Sherman Baptist Church.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie on July 30, 2003, parents, siblings Carl, Marlin, Cecil, Aubrey, Chester, and Lucy Jamison.

He is survived by daughter Buttons Null of Sherman, son John Martin and wife Debie of Sherman, grandchildren William Null (Heather) of Austin, Charlotte Stidham (Austin) of Sherman, Nate Martin and fianc Kate Hughes of Miami, FL, and Amanda Permenter (Jeffrey) of Leonard, great-grandchildren Hailey, Sabrina, Drake, Micah, Sam, Savannah, Harrison, and Stella, brother Doyle Martin and wife Oneta of Grand Prairie, sisters June Ringness of Dallas, Mary Ruth McKinney and husband Bobby of Hardin, and Shirley Cox of Lake Charles, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The Martin family wish to extend a special Thank You to all the employees at Bonham VA Nursing Home who cared for Marion during his stay the past 2 years.
