SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR MRS. J.A. GAINES
Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at the First Methodist church here for Mrs. J.A. Gaines, 48, who died at 4 p.m. Sunday at her home here following illness of several months.  The Rev. T.G. Craft, pastor, the Rev. Frank Johnston, pastor of the Baptist church, and the Rev. M.L. Hamilton of Sherman officiated.  Burial was in the Van Alstyne cemetery arranged by Fox-Fanning.
Mrs. Gaines was born Aug. 4, 1890, in Wolfe City, daughter of John W. and Mary Ann Old.  She was christened Marby Willie. She married J. A. Gaines Nov. 17, 1909. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Homer Sanford of Whitesboro and Mrs. Dick Portman
of Denison; two sons, C.J. Gaines of Olney and John Gaines of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Aubrey Gaston and Mrs. O.B. Graham of Olney; four brothers, W.C. Old of Lamesa, Lawrence Old of Weatherford, Gordon Old of Fort Worth and Roger Old of Van Alstyne; two half-brothers, J.A. Old of Dallas and R.E. Old of Bonham; two half-sisters, Mrs. Charlie O'Neil of Gainesville and Mrs. C.P. Spearman of Ivanhoe and two granddaughters.
Pallbearers were John Gaines, Dick Gaines, Burl Coffee, Birdie Cotten, Milford Veazey and Cage Hunter.
