p. 1

R. Ober, a Texas and pacific brakeman, who had been working for the road but a short time, was killed at Tioga on the transcontinental ranch of the Texas and Pacific at 10 o'clock Sunday morning. He was without relatives in Texas and the body was interred at Tioga Monday morning.
The train, a southbound freight, pulled into the station and Ober, who was riding on the drawhead, jumped off to run ahead to throw a stitch. In some unexplained manner he slipped and fell in front of the engine and was instantly killed. He was a young man aged about 25 years and in his application for work stated that he had no near relatives living and that his father and mother were both dead.
